July 3, 2008

Davison postal carrier Bob Amy retired after 30 years of service. His last 12 years was delivering mail to the residents on Lapeer Rd, Wildwood Condominiums and Courtyard Apartments.

A benefit for Darlene Gerding, co-owner of Davison Bacon & Sausage, successfully raised $6,800 to assist her with medical costs. The fundraiser was put on by Judi Gibbs, Sharon Wiegand, Sandy Redmond and Betty McComb.

DHS Sports: Shanna MacClaren, Lindsey Carson and Kim Garrow were named to the All-Big Nine Tennis second team with Samantha Stewart getting an honorable mention. Jake Thompson was named on the All-Big Nine Golf first team with Andrew Jared, Travis Carto and Cody Minto receiving honorable mention. All-Big Nine Softball saw Abigail Adams on the first team, Allison Hrabec on the second team and Kaleigh Gritzinger and Mercedes McFall as honorable mention. Trevor Cousineau, Jared Cowen and Nick Creason placed on the All-Big Nine Baseball first team. Tad Dipzinski, Mike Dollof and Kaleb Forr were second team honors with Chad Hoover and Kevin Yoesting with honorable mention.


July 7, 1993

A driver of a 1949 Chevrolet pickup with sixteen passengers in the rear of the truck failed to negotiate the turn at Gale Rd and Richfield Park Rd and overturned causing a variety of injuries. Ambulances from six different agencies were called.

The Genesee County Board of Canvassers has scheduled a recount of the Headlee amendment override question. The proposal was defeated by 10 votes.

The Flint MTA began supervision of the Davison Transportation Center, at Mill and Main streets, which formally was staffed by city-hired Dial-A-Ride employees.


July 3, 1968

In the second week of the Homecoming Queen contest, Vicki Kinsel leads with Pat Jaster, Beverly Schabel, Kathy Green, Sandy Allen and Cheryl Tucker following close behind. The contestants had a day of horseback riding at Sherwood Forest and will also be the honored guests at a teen dance there. Also planned is a day at Lake Nepessing for skiing, swimming and boating.

July 5, 1918

The Methodists of Davison had a joyful gathering when it announced that the church debt had been paid off. The mortgage was burned by Mesdames Cartwright, Florence Hurd and Olive Long and a large attendance witnessed the event and listened to a sermon by their former pastor.
