Hahn-DMS complex placed in secure mode after threats

DAVISON — After concerned parents told officials in Davison Community Schools about threats being made on social media directed toward three district officials, the Hahn-Davison Middle School complex was placed in secure mode, Tuesday afternoon.

An individual was arrested by police following the incident. Further details were unavailable.

Superintendent Eric Lieske, in an email to parents, said the threats were brought to the district’s attention by parents and community members who observed “numerous very aggressive, threatening and intimidating social media posts” the afternoon of April 10, directed toward school district and building administrators.

Students at the DMS/Hahn complex were in secure mode per normal safety protocol, said Lieske. Law enforcement officials with Davison City and Davison Township Police responded quickly and were actively involved in the case.

Police remained on site during the day, as did the school security officer.

“Please know that the district and law enforcement take matters such as these extremely seriously,” Lieske said in the email. “Given the heightened awareness of school safety measures, this matter has been turned over to law enforcement.”

There was no word Tuesday about arrests or further police action. — G.G.
