Davison fell behind early and trailed 22-6 after the first quarter. The Lady Cardinals were then outscored 18-16 in the second quarter to trail 40-22 at the half. Davison and Carman-Ainsworth then traded baskets all throughout the second half, but the Lady Cardinals were unable to overcome the early deficit as they saw their postseason run come to an end.

Adrian Gill scored 17 points with eight rebounds and two blocks to lead Davison while Chelsea Oryszczak finished with seven points, four rebounds and two steals.

Last Friday, the Lady Cardinals secured the Class A district title with a 50-49 win over host Kearsley.

Stephanie Ramoie led the team with 20 points and three steals while Oryszczak chipped in with 13 points and four steals. Gill contributed eight points with six rebounds and three blocks.

“I can’t say enough about this team’s effort and toughness,” said Davison coach Craig Hitchcock after the game. “This was a great win against a very good team in a tremendous atmosphere. We prepared and played like a championship team and I couldn’t be happier for the players. They earned the right to be called champions.”

During last Wednesday’s district semifinal game, Davison routed Saginaw, 71-49.

Gill led the team in scoring with 19 points. Oryszczak scored 14 with six steals, five rebounds and three assists and Ramoie had 11 points with three assists.

“We played with great energy today,” said Hitchcock. “We shared the ball well and got everybody involved. All 11 players scored.”

Davison closes out its season with a 5-8 league, 11-13 overall record.
