Board fixes liquor license gaff

DAVISON TWP. — As a matter of “housekeeping” the Davison Township Board of Trustees rescinded a motion, Jan. 8, approving a liquor license for Maria Mia restaurant, 7498 Davison Rd., and changed the title of the applicant to Burbar3 Inc. The board said it corrected a clerical error when the applicant filed under the restaurant name instead of the company name. The liquor license motion for the new name was approved unanimously. — G.G.

Sewer ordinances approved

DAVISON TWP. — The Board of Trustees voted Jan. 8 to approve an ordinance by the Genesee County Drain Commission, formally adopting rules and fees in place for more than a decade. The ordinances bring the township sanity sewer ordinance up to date. The document dates back to 1964 and was in need of an update, said officials. — G.G.

Councilman, supervisor offer praise for DPW

DAVISON — Councilman Ron Emery praised the city Department of Public Works for its efforts to keep streets clean of snow and for its work during the recent cold snap. DPW Supervisor Ed Brown added his praise for his employees.

“It’s just a phenomenal crew,” he said. “They deserve a quick pat on the back.” — G.G.

Board forms student reinstatement committee

DAVISON — The Davison School Board approved the formation of the Student Reinstatement Committee at its Jan. 8 meeting.

Superintendent Eric Lieske said the new committee will oversee reinstatement hearings for students who have been expelled from the district.

“If a student was ever expelled from Davison Community Schools based on Michigan’s dangerous weapons law, this would be a way for them to petition the district to come back,” Lieske said.

Also on the agenda was the designation of a board representative for the Annual Genesee

Intermediate School District Budget Hearing. Secretary Karen Conover was selected to represent DCS, and board president Kathleen Sudia was named as an alternate. — B.G.
